At the southern edge of the county, The Meadow, a farm originally established in 1810, became a premier facility for breeding, raising and training Thoroughbred racehorses. In 1972, Riva Ridge, raised at The Meadow, won the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes, two of the three events of the Triple Crown. The following year, Secretariat, born at The Meadow, won the famous Triple Crown for the Chenery family’s Meadow Stable.

In 2003, The State Fair of Virginia purchased Meadow Farm for development as a new site for the annual Virginia State Fair. Long held at locations in the capital of Richmond and Henrico County, the fair was increasingly squeezed out by expanding development around it and the growth of the event. Most recently, it was held at Strawberry Hill in central Henrico County, at the facility, which became the Richmond International Raceway. Beginning in September 2009, the annual Virginia State Fair has been held at the new Meadow Event Park in Caroline County.[6] The annual Meadow Celtic Games and Festival (formerly Richmond Celtic Games and Festival) will also be held at the new facility. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caroline_County,_Virginia

Johnny Seamster is very well known throughout Southern Virginia as the “Landman.” He grew up in the hardwood timber business and has been an avid outdoorsman for over 40 years. He owned and ran a real estate company for 8 years with his longtime friend. He also owns an outfitters business, is a co-founder of Warrior Hunts of Virginia, and is on the Mossy Oak Pro-staff Turkey Team. After working a few jobs, he got settled in doing real estate in 2005, thus allowing him to get back into land and timber. His father told him growing up “you will never work a day in your life if you enjoy what you are doing.” Johnny says, “I have never worked a day since going into real estate.” He and his business partner bought out the company they started with in 2008. They had an opportunity to form a partnership with Mossy Oak Properties of Virginia in 2016. Johnny’s love for selling land and his love of the outdoors makes him a great fit to Mossy Oak Properties of Virginia.
